by Kenneth Wukasch and Waneen Spirduso
For the first time, over 600 Austin, Texas postcards are categorized with many illustrated in full color. Images are shown that follow the development of Austin, Texas from 1900 to 1970. This is not a history of the capitol city but rather documents its past through the lenses of Austin photographers. This book contains 214 real photo postcards, many of which are one-of-a-kind. The images capture major events, iconic buildings and the day-to-day activities of the citizens of Austin. It also records the history of the Austin mail service during these seventy years. Being native Austinites, Waneen Spirduso and Kenneth Wukasch invite the reader to share in their love and interest of Austin through the images and messages of the humble postcard.
